Shortest walking distance is from Haymarket railway station about 0.8 mile, 20 mins on foot. (see walking directions below).
If your train does not go through Haymarket then from Waverley the house is a 30 – 35 min walk from Waverley. Bus from Princes Street is number 10 or 27. Both turn on to Gilmore Place. Getting off the bus at first stop, cross the road and you will find us just a little further along (the fourth house in the Georgian terrace, beyond the shops). The 11, 15 or 16 bus also run from Princes Street. Disembark at the first stop after the Kings Theatre, cross the road, then turn into Gilmore Place, directly opposite the Kings Theatre .
Please note the first part of Gilmore Place on the right (from the King’s Theatre end) is “Lochrin Buildings” so continue along past the shops and on the right you will see our black and white Emmaus sign.
This does not apply if coming from Haymarket Station as you will come to our house first.
Directions from Haymarket station on foot are different to online search as they don’t include the pedestrian canal basin. Directions on foot are as follows:
As you leave the station

1. Walk to your right on Haymarket Terrace/A8 toward Haymarket/A8 |

2. Slight right at Haymarket/A8 ( there are several roads at this junction you are more less going straight on, cross the road after the pub and continue on the same side of the road). |

3. Continue onto Morrison St, you will cross the road and continue further on this street |

4. Turn right at Grove St |

End of Grove street you come to a roundabout 5. Cross to the other side to the road and walk under the large square archway of the CARGO building to reach the canal basin (pedestrian precinct which does not show up on Google maps) |

6. Walk up the left side of the canal basin pass the holiday flats and |
|
7. Turn left at the opening on to Lower Gilmore Place |

8. A few yards on at next junction turn left at Gilmore Pl Destination will be on the left. |
