Who visits?
Emmaus welcomes people from all faith backgrounds or none,
and irrespective of marital status or sexual orientation.
The following is a sample of people and groups we’ve welcomed since opening in 2008:
- Visitors for holiday, business, therapeutic treatments, training;
- Clergy, members of religious orders, missionaries and others for rest, retreat, holiday;
- carers in need of respite;
- members of other faith groups;
- international students, academics, conference delegates;
- church and overseas representatives to Diocese of Edinburgh or General Assembly;
- youth groups from UK and abroad;
- parish groups, ministry teams and individuals for away-days, quiet days, workshops;
- local Christian groups, eg. L’Arche, Edinburgh University chaplains, Franciscan Third Order, Mothers’ Union, Alpha;
- individuals using the house for a personal quiet day.
